On March 26, the COVID-19 Community Task Force met to discuss several issues of concern with regard to COVID-19 and its spread in the community, as well as recent changes issued by the State of Indiana regarding COVID-19 prevention measures.

Several Task Force members indicated that they will be continuing with current mask requirements for staff and the public utilizing their facilities.

  • City of Columbus facilities will remain closed for public meetings through May 3, 2021. Masks will continue to be required for staff and visitors to the building.
  • Bartholomew County facilities and offices will remain closed to the public through May 3. Staff will be encouraged to wear masks when entering or exiting the building.
  • As reflected in the Governor’s advisory, masks will be mandatory for all students, staff and visitors to Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation and Flat Rock Haw Creek School Corporation facilities through the end of the school year.
  • Masks will be mandatory at all Columbus Regional Health facilities for all patients, staff and visitors to its facilities.

COVID-19 continues to pose a significant risk in our community and state. Even as we are encouraged by vaccinations and overall decreases in hospitalizations and community positivity rates, we must continue to be vigilant and prioritize safety measures that limit transmission of the virus and any variants that continue to circulate. Regardless of changes and alterations to state and local COVID-19 restrictions, the COVID-19 Community Task Force strongly recommends and encourages Bartholomew County residents and visitors to continue following the safety guidelines and precautions of masking, and practicing social distancing and hand hygiene, especially while in public.

In addition, we encourage limiting gatherings to smaller groups and conducting gatherings outdoors and in open-air settings whenever possible.
