On December 11, the COVID-19 Community Task Force met to discuss several issues of concern with regard to COVID-19 and its spread in the community.
Dr. Jim Roberts with Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) discussed the Corporation’s desire to return to in-person learning as early as January 5, 2021. As this date nears, BCSC administrators will continue to evaluate metrics and will make a final determination as to the return to in-person learning, an extension of e-Learning or adopting a hybrid model. More information about school options and the return to in-person learning may be found in the near future at http://www.bcscschools.org.
Columbus Regional Health (CRH) reviewed the anticipated rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations for the healthcare worker population in Bartholomew County and surrounding region. CRH has been named a Phase 1A vaccination site for vaccinations by ISDH, and will be overseeing the vaccination distribution for Bartholomew, Decatur, Jackson and Jennings counties. Phase 1-A is expected to begin on or around December 18, with health care workers slotted to receive the first doses. A timeline for subsequent phases is under development, as informed by ISDH. The Task Force will share more relevant information as it becomes available in the coming weeks and months.
During this crucial time and surge in positivity rates in our area, residents are encouraged to take every precaution possible to limit community spread. The COVID-19 Community Task Force has launched a “Mask Up Columbus” campaign. A shareable PSA, social media content, printable flyers and more information is available at http://covid19communitytaskforce.org/mask-up-columbus.
